Dry Diggings Festival 2022 Lineup & Review

Next

This year Dry Diggings Music Festival 2022 returned to the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, California. Over four days, the team behind Cali Roots Fest and Dry Diggings brought non-stop excitement to Northern California, with thousands of attendees throughout the weekend. Between Dry Diggings' legendary headliners, newly expanded festival grounds, and well-curated culture of good people and great vibes, this festival remains one of our favorites to attend.

The Dry Diggings Festival 2022 lineup brings legendary artists to Northern California.

The team behind Dry Diggins is no stranger to curating a unique lineup for their audience. The team is notorious for bringing some of the most notable names in reggae to their shows. This year, the addition of the 4th day allowed the team to expand upon their traditional roster of artists and make some solid choices to bring out artists that we know and love along with artists who are also on the rise.

This year's headliners encompassed the sonic vibrations of:

PEPPER, THE REGGAE ROCK BAND FROM HAWAII.

They brought their usual high-octane performance, accompanied by off-the-cuff adlibs and psychedelic renditions of pop culture tracks.

REBELUTION, GOOD FRIENDS OF CALIBIS.

Most notably, Rebelution took the whole weekend by storm with a jaw-dropping performance of some of their most popular tracks. Eric Rachmany is nothing short of sounding nearly identical to his studio-recorded mixes. The smooth chorus of "Feelin' Alright" rang through the Grass Valley tree line into the hearts and souls of every attendee that Saturday night. We have never seen the crowd more in sync with the higher vibration.

IRATION WRAPPED UP THE FINAL DAY.

The Labor Day weekend vibes were solidified with one of the leading bands in the genre of sunshine reggae, Iration. Their vibrant mix of pop reggae, dub, and rock brought a unique element of sound that had the crowd vibing from end to end. They’re always a pleasure to watch.

DAMIEN MARLEY WAS A SPECIAL NORCAL APPEARANCE

He came through the stage with the vital soulfulness of his father to grace the crowd Friday night. Everyone could feel the righteousness emanating from his lyrics to the sea of people.

DRY DIGGINGS FITS THE NEW FAIRGROUNDS NICELY

Location

Dry Diggings makes a killer return to the Nevada City Fairgrounds for the second year in a row following their last-minute decision to move the event to Grassy Valley due to the fires in 2021.

Vendors

Known for its dense tree line, Grass Valley became home to thousands of people, vendors, and reggae artists for Labor Day weekend. This year's map showcased an extended vendor plaza for small local business owners in the NorCal area. We saw everything from handmade clothing, Cannabis testing facilities, local barbershops, and much more. There was never a dull moment while exploring the area.

Food and Snacks

The attendees also had the opportunity to try a wide variety of local restaurants that came to provide eats and drinks to the festival. People had the option of wood-fired pizza, mini doughnuts, freshly brewed coffee, Thai dishes, and much more. Our favorite bacon connoisseurs, Bacon Mania, joined the food truck lineup again this year and kept everyone's munchies at bay throughout the four-day weekend.

Cannabis

Speaking of munchies, this year, Dry Diggings opened its vendor pool to two fully operational delivery services. At the festival, you had the opportunity to purchase cannabis onsite and have it delivered to you during the show. We partnered with the GreenWerx factory to distribute Calibis Farms with killer deals throughout the weekend.

Second Stage

This year, Dry Diggings also expanded the music selection to a second stage sponsored by Beach Hut Deli! This stage was located just behind the main stage, providing a separation between the sound, so there were no clashing frequencies. The festival also staged each performance between the main and side-stage so that attendees wouldn't miss a single performance or have the opportunity to explore the area between sets.

OUR FAVORITE ARTIST CAME TO VISIT

FORTUNATE TIMES WITH FORTUNATE YOUTH

Throughout the weekend, we had the opportunity to spend time with some of our favorite artists. We were blessed enough to catch up with our boys, Fortunate Youth, for an interview on Friday before their set. Our owner, AJ, teamed up with the band to bring out our infamous T-Shirt Cannon during their set. Like always, Fortunate Youth brings the smokers out.

Safe to say, it was an event to remember.

ELI MAC CAME TO KICK IT

Our team even got a chance to spend some time with Eli Mac and her crew. She caught up with us at her booth the day before her set. We caught up about her recent tour and what she has on the horizon. She brought high vibes to the booth, and we laced her up with a sweet care package of gear for the road. We always love her support for the brand.

SMOKING FIRE WITH KATCHAFIRE

One of our favorite memories from the weekend has to be our moments with our good friends from Katchafire. We rarely see them in California since they live down under; however, this weekend, we got to smoke up the New Zealand way in the tour bus with Jordan and Logan Bell. Our team dropped off a custom Calibis Farms care package to the boys as a token of our appreciation. We can’t wait to see them on the next one!

A REGGAE FESTIVAL FOR THE PEOPLE

One thing we can say about Dry Diggings is the people bring an indescribable vibe to the festival grounds. The event provides welcoming energy that promotes a holistic environment where the kids can play and enjoy the surrounding area with their parents.

While the crowd does get dense, there is no shortage of politeness that proceeds and engagement. This is the environment where you can feel comfortable laying out a couple of lawn chairs or picnic blankets and vibe out to the soulful sounds while the sun sets. Everyone we met was on the right vibe. We are so pleased to see every attendee who came by the booth to experience Calibis for the first time or catch up with the family.

As another year passes, we are proud to be a sponsor of Dry Diggings for the 7th year in a row. Can't wait to see you guys there next year!
